My groupmates and I at our presentation |
"Eat the Rainbow" PresentationIn Fall 2016, I had the opportunity to demonstrate teamwork abilities while creating an interactive nutrition presentation for elementary aged students at an after school program in Pine Grove Mills, PA. The goal of our interactive presentation was the make children aware of the fruits and vegetables that make up the colors of a rainbow.

Region 3 Judge for Pennsylvania Junior Academy of ScienceIn January 2016, my physiology professor asked me to judge for the competition led by the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS). The goal of PJAS is to encourage involvement in science related activities while promoting interest among the youth across the state of Pennsylvania. Every year, students present their research and ideas to a panel of judges. As one of these judges, I helped to assess presentations of junior and senior high school students affiliated with the competition. After listening to multiple presentations, the judges distinguished which students were eligible to go on to the state competition. As dietitians need to have a scientific background, I wanted to contribute as much as possible to encourage local youth to explore and fall in love with science like I had.
