In Spring of 2017, I worked with Denise Lawson and two other teaching assistants to manage a class of over 180 students. As a teaching assistant, I practiced time management by grading over 60 projects, papers, and attendance records every week. By the end of the semester, I had held a review session for an exam by myself. For the session, I learned how to speak to people from different backgrounds. When the semester had ended I felt more competent explaining nutrition concepts to people outside of my field.

Penn State’s Student Nutrition Association strives to inform students of professional development while providing opportunities for its members to get involved in the field. An officer, I assist to plan meetings and attend these meetings every month. As I am also the treasurer, I practiced budget preparation and forecasted finances for the club. Being familiar with finance has helped me understand the business and management areas of nutrition. This position has made me exceptional at public speaking as I share important updates with club members every meeting.
